Biiiiiiiiiiig dork!

Jules posted today about seeing goats on her commute home, and it reminded me of just how dorky my friends and I can be at times...

A group of us used to make an annual Labor Day pilgrimage to Rock Island State Park, just off the "thumb" of Wisconsin. On the way there, we would pass a restaurant called Al Johnson's, in Sister Bay. Al Johnson's has a grass roof and a few goats to "mow" the roof grass. I'd never seen anything like it and thought it was the neatest thing (much the same way I still get excited seeing cows on the side of the road, despite having lived in Wisconsin for almost 10 years now. Gimme a break, I'm a city girl).

Anyway...

One of my best friends is a goat freak, and we have often discussed having a grass-roofed house, which we'd surround with trampolines. Then we'd get goats for the roof - but not just any goats, fainting goats. We'd sit outside in lawn chairs, have a few drinks, yell "oi!," then laugh our asses off watching the goats fall off the roof and bounce on the trampolines.

I believe we may have been slightly inebriated the day this plan was first discussed. Or then again, maybe not - we're just nutty that way.

Of course we wouldn't actually DO it, but the mental image can be quite amusing.

Well sure - if one is gonna be a dork, one may as well be a BIG dork! (Speaking of which, did ya' SEE DadGoneMad's prom photo today?)

Al Johnson's is such a kitschy hoot; I love all the overpriced Swedish crap in the gift shop! We'll be going to Door County (Ellison Bay) this summer, for the fourth year in a row. I can't wait!
